What is there to value in the pursuit of more? Why does anyone need more? How much more?

Depends on more of what.

Time. It comes in different colors. I have lots of red time, some orange time, too much black time, not enough blue and green time.

A rainbow of time - like a life. Starts at the beginning, rises high into the air and curves back into the ground. From some places, you only see part of it. From others, you see none of it. But it is there. A life needs reflected life to be seen. You can't see a rainbow from the inside. Some people can see the rainbow but not the colors. Fraction and refraction. Pass the pop-overs, Featherstone! I'm hungry!
